First Major Spam Hit
Well, I suppose it was inevitable. This blog finally recieved its first major spam attack. Over 350 comments were submitted on nearly all my open entries, all talking about certain sexual unmentionables that would certainly get you excommunicated from the Church.
Thankfully, WordPress’s lovely built-in comment moderation mechanism caught every single spam comment, and I deleted them all without much trouble. This is yet another reason why WordPress is so great.
Oh, and happy 2005.
This morning, I started to receive a large number of request (280 in under 20 minutes) to my blog looking for /usr/local/httpd/htdocs/maymaymedia/blog.php, which doesn’t exist on my system. Your site was the only ‘maymaymedia’ I could find using Google. This isn’t causing me any problems, but it is unusual traffic, which always get’s me wondering what someone’s up to. Are you experiencing any type of attack against your website, maybe some comment or trackback spam?
