Jason, you're attitude doesn't deserve a response.

I am annoyed at the Fed Ex person, too. That doesn't make HP's technicians any more competent, or their hardware any more reliable.

Further, I went to great lengths complaining to FedEx in order to get them to deal with reimbursing the value of the laptop. Unfortunately, since HP did not arrange to insure the laptop for its full value, FedEx's "best offer" was only for $100. For a laptop that cost over $1,200, that's a pretty poor value.

Whose fault is that? I submit it's fundamentally HP's fault for starting this ridiculous chain of events in the first place.

So do everyone a favor and spare us your offending jabs.

LOL ! You leave your computer on the doorstep and you blame Hewlett Packard for it? If anything you should be annoyed with the fed ex person who told you to leave an expensive computer on your doorstep or better yet you should blame yourself because ultimately it was your dumb decision to leave it on the doorstep.

Can you imagine if HP or Fed ex would cover this stupidity on your part with their insurance? I would set up a repair order every other week and not bother sending the box at all so I could get a free computer every time. I could make a killing selling computers. Obviously insurance can't cover it if its not received by fedex.

Oh god, that's horrible. My tech support experiences have been pretty damn bad (remind me to tell you about my personal favorite, the guy who tried to get me to break my own computer), but that takes the cake. I'm so sorry. My advice: bitch and moan and scream. Call them every day. Having worked in customer service, it's more worth it to them to just give you your money back than to deal with you constantly. Make sure you get a name and an extension so you don't have to go through the whole menu runaround. And of course, best of luck. I hope you're feeling better...

Damn. Terrible story. Yet very well told.
May this loss be the only kind you'll ever suffer.
Which new laptop will you buy now?
Love you
