I know exactly what you mean ... I ended up in a job that I hated in the same way for six months. All that stuff about not being able to do what you want when you want because you're too tired, etc.... I can TOTALLY relate. The way I got through it was by first finding something, anything, in the job that I could focus on learning. It was still difficult to get through a lot of the boring or ridiculous parts, and the day-to-day wasn't that much better, but have some kind of short-term focus gave me a way to get through the days. Then, getting out... well, I found that having a job makes it SO much easier to get another job. Because you're not desperate for the pay (you're already making what you want to be making), you can shop around. And since you are in a job you hate, it makes it easier to be clear about things to avoid when you are interviewing....

.... so my advice is to stick it out for the short term and keep your eyes way open for other opportunities. There are jobs out there where you can get all the things you need to be happy in your workplace. The key is to take some time to find them.

GOOD LUCK! and many HUGS! (= (=

Thanks, Torie. I have always been convinced that the only real way to do this is to work with friends and have your own company and I've yet to find anything capable of swaying me in this belief.

1. You are where YOU put yourself, more so than many many many others in this world, and you should be proud and happy for that. Who is holding a gun at you?
2. See comment by Torrie.
3. Change the environment, influence it, mold it, make it work for you, or find another. You can do it. That's what the universe wants you to do.
Love you. Aba

Damnit, then, why can’t I find something to do or make that I enjoy doing and makes me the money I want to live off of the way I want to?

I ask myself that every day. Sometimes dozens of times. Hang in there--the good news is that everything is temporary, and hopefully since you've DONE the great environment but shitty pay and no advancement thing, and now DONE the great pay and great advancement and shitty environment thing, you will be on your way to something that has the best of both. Once you have some experience like this under your belt, you'll get to be a lot more discerning about the jobs you take and will, of course, have even more options to choose from. Best of luck, Mei.
